【摘要】:TheseconepenetrationtestsnotonlyevaluatetheconsistencyoflubricatinggreasesoverthefullrangeofNLGInumbersfrom000to6,butalsoevaluatetheconsistencyofstiffgreaseshavingpenetrationnumberslessthan85.Incontrast,TestMethodD937isaimedatpetrolatumsandTestMethodD1403useslesspreciseone-quarterandone-halfscaleequipmentintendedforusewhenthesamplequantityislimited.Conepenetrationtestresultsprovideonemeasureoftheconsistencyofagrease.WorkedpenetrationresultsarerequiredtodeterminetowhichNLGIconsistencygradeagreasebelongs.Undisturbedpenetrationresultsprovideameansofevaluatingtheeffectofstorageconditionsongreaseconsistency.Althoughnocorrelationhasbeendevelopedbetweenconepenetrationresultsandfieldservice,theconepenetrationsobtainedbythefourproceduresarewidelyusedforspecificationpurposes,suchasinusers''materialspecificationsandsuppliers''manufacturingspecifications.1.1Thesetestmethodscoverfourproceduresformeasuringtheconsistencyoflubricatinggreasesbythepenetrationofaconeofspecifieddimensions,mass,andfinish.Thepenetrationismeasuredintenthsofamillimetre.Note18212;TheNationalLubricatingGreaseInstitute(NLGI)classifiedgreasesaccordingtotheirconsistencyasmeasuredbytheworkedpenetration.Theclassificationsystemisasfollows:
